Lakki Marwat
Lakki Marwat or Lakki is the headquarters of Lakki Marwat District in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.It became a well known place in several countries in the world due to Muhammad Ayaz Khan's relations with them. Khan was well known for being one the richest persons in Pakistan during the late 1910s.He also was the first person to travel To Great Britain from the Pukhtoon's tribes. It is located at 32° 36′ 19N, 70° 54′ 52E and has an altitude of 255 metres (839 feet), the town is administratively divided into 2 union councils.

In 1844 Fateh Khan Tiwana, the revenue collector of the Sikh government, built and garrisoned a fort in the heart of Marwat which he called Ihsanpur. A town grew up under its walls and became the capital of Marwat until 1864, when the site was abandoned and the inhabitants removed to Lakki on the right bank of the Gambila River. The municipality was constituted in 1874.
During British rule Lakki served as headquarters of the Marwat Tehsil of Bannu Districtthen part of Dera Ismail Khan Division. The Population in 1901 was 5,218.
A Narrow gauge (762 mm or 2 ft 6 in) railway line was linked it with Mari Indus, Bannu and Tank, Pakistan, was closed in 1991.
On 1 January 2010, at least 99 people were killed in the nearby village Shah Hassan Khel when a suicide bomber blew himself up at avolleyball game.
Languages [edit]
Pashto is main language spoken in a specific dialect, but significant number of people speaksPunjabi Language (in Hindko dialect). Urdu being National language is also spoken and understood.
